Dear Mother

Look what I got in the mail! Dear Mother, a set of devotions for new mothers commissioned by LWML, is now in print. I think it will be available for purchase at the LWML National Convention this summer in Albuquerque. Then at LWML vendor tables after that. 🙂

It’s one of those pocket books you can slip into a purse or back pocket. Handy and hopefully at times humorous. Of course, also centered on the Gospel and all Christ has done, and continues to do, for us and all His children. And our children!

I don’t know whether you can pre-order it or not. If you’re interested, you can contact LWML through its website.

Mother’s Day reminds me that many mothers have experienced great pain (“a sword will pierce your soul” Luke 2:35). I looked around our congregation this morning and I thought of the miscarriages, deaths of children grown or otherwise, those who have left the faith, etc. Motherhood has never been cheery or simple, and its pretty sad that we turn to a federal holiday to pretend it is so.

Anyway, may the Church uphold our sisters in their vocations. 🙂 No matter who is doing the crying! And, thanks be to God that, before Him, we are all His children!
