hard-hitting

I haven’t written much fiction, though I daydream about doing so. Still, I think a lot of good Lutheran theology and dialogue could shine through, just as it does in real life, in some good novels. Especially hard-hitting novels! The post below, from Cranach, reminded me of that. Imagine comparing theological approaches to the poor with actual people since theological absolutely affects actual people!

Automatic Boycott

I read Amazon reviews. I don’t always trust them, but I read them with interest. Imagine my horror, however, when I read this one: “Anyone who ‘receives a complimentary copy’ whether or not for a review automatically makes my “do not buy” list. Automatic boycott.”

New Testament Psalms

I’ve had an idea–and I’m sharing that idea, although I’m not entirely sure whether it’s a possible project. I wonder if people could glean images and metaphors from the New Testament and incorporate them into a new sort of devotional psalter, like New Testament Psalms. Replacing the Book of Psalms? No!!!!! Making a part II that could, in any way, equal the authority, strengths, and beauties of the Book of Psalms?? No!

A Defense Against Evolution

Guess what: Another Lutheran book has been released! It’s A Defense Against Evolution by Rev. Lincoln Winter, whom you may know from his catechetical website, Teach These Things, or his blog, Musings of a Country Parson. The topic, of course, is a very relevant one.

To God, you are still wet with the waters of holy Baptism and you drip with the righteousness that only our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came give–or earn. In fact, the Holy Spirit grants you flowing rivers of living water. And, guess what? There are more Lent resources for 2018 to help immerse you in the gifts God has already given you.

Serial Multitasking

A conference speaker once talked about how multitasking doesn’t really work. She argued that multitasking really means that we’re distracted no matter what task is at hand. Yeah, I have six children, nine and under. I cannot not multitask. So, I told myself, I’ll just focus on whatever is at hand. I’ll serial task. Still, that’s pretty much resulted in serial multitasking.

Law & Gospel for Writers-Redeeming

The series goes on with Part V. Today’s post is hinged more on the Gospel: redeeming!

I’m a little torn how long to let this series run. Any suggestions? I know I have readers, but you lot sure can be quiet. 😉 I have other announcements building up, so next week the series may not run consecutive days.
