Ladies and gentlemen, today’s post will be short and sweet. I’ve just really been struck by how reading a good book can linger. 🙂 I thought I’d point that out as something we can aspire to and give thanks for.
I’ve been reading sort of a wild assortment of things recently. I probably have too many books going, really. Still, I keep thinking about points from Thank, Praise, Serve, and Obey, which I reviewed here yesterday. Just little things throughout the day make points pop into my head, and I really appreciate that.
On the other hand, I’ve been trying to read Aristotle’s Poetics. At first I feared it would be an exercise of sheer discipline. 🙂 The particular edition I have had a lengthy and rather confusing introduction. Thankfully it’s gotten to where I’m better understanding his points and distinctions. I mean, I think I’d need to reread it a couple of times before I could hold an educated conversation about it, but I’m still glad I’m almost finished. (It’s surprisingly brief—not even a whole book, really. More lecture notes, apparently.)
Anyway. May you remember scenes and snippets, soundbites and sound doctrine! And, way we all benefit from reading a good book on a regular basis.
