I love Kloria Publishing and their latest offering is a 2022 Hymn Illustration Contest!!!
I’ll link to an introductory article, and there are substantial regarding sizing & templates too, but basically, anyone 13 years old or older can take one of 16 hymns and illustrate the whole hymn in order to submit it to a contest and win up to $3,000! Plus, there are second, third, etc. prizes, with Kloria Publishing offering a whopping $10,000 in awards!
Here’s the introductory article (and it does have a good amount of detail to it). Within that, you can sign up to receive the free download. That download includes things regarding the Large Book Category (specifications, interior template, and potential hymns), the Small Book Category (specification, interior template, storyboard, and hymns), grading scale, and rules & entry form.
AWESOME.
Please note: the job is to illustrate the whole hymn, but as far as I can tell the illustrator is not responsible for including text. Text will be superimposed later.
All prizes include the chance of publication, with the possibility of additional royalties. If an entry is selected for publication, Kloria will send a formal agreement narrowing the license scope and providing for supplemental royalties after a certain number of sales.
Yes, entrants grant must grant Kloria Publishing an exclusive license to their submitted artwork, but if an entry is not selected for publication, Kloria will release the “associated license” within the year 2022.
AWESOME.
The deadline is 12:01pm (CST) May 16, 2022.

In general, also look over Kloria’s website. Again, I love them. If you prefer Amazon, here’s a page, more or less, for their materials, too. (I recently asked Amazon to make publisher pages in a similar way to author pages. Wouldn’t that be handy for some of us?)
