Rev. Dr. Gerhard Aho was a beloved professor at Concordia Theological Seminary, who was well known for his homiletic and rhetorical skills (his dissertation, The Preaching of F.G. Hedberg, was recognized as one of the most outstanding discourses in the field of rhetoric by the professional speech society). One of his books, The Lively Skeleton: Thematic Approaches and Outlines is now back in print through the CTSFW press.
Originally published by CPH in 1977, his other books include Lent, a Time for Renewal: Lenten Studies, Sermons, and Worship Resources for Ash Wednesday to Easter and Glory in the Cross: Fruit of the Spirit from the Passion of Christ.
I know these are likely geared toward pastors, although who knows? 🙂 Still, some of you are pastors so I thought I’d happily share.
Here is a link to a biography for Dr. Gerhard Aho from the seminary website, where you can also find some of his articles, homiletical studies, etc.
Just to let you know, at the request of the Aho heirs, a portion of the purchase price of each copy goes to support student scholarships at CTSFW.
