Kristin Lavransdatter

I’m about halfway through Kristin LavransdatterHow did I not know about this/these sooner? I first learned about it from a reference by Lutheran author Lars Walker and then again by a pastor.

Folks. If you’re serious readers, consider this one next time you have a serious chunk of time on your hands. It is not light reading, but it is amazing. Just amazing.

I’m without words except for these: I think the ideal way to read this series/trilogy would be on a week-long silent retreat that ends with some sort of support group.

It reminds me of an orthodox novel I read, but this one is . . . more historic, less gross, . . . more real? I don’t know. This is really something.

Misc.

Ah, my friends, I have had a whirlwind of a summer! Most recently I was able to go on a sister trip to my hometown, Cedarburg, and it was just so wonderful! Now I’m back and eager to get back to work. I can’t promise posts everyday because a) I have a writing project I’ve been meaning to finish for forever now and b) I’m reading Kirstin Lavrensdatter and can hardly look up from it. Still, tomorrow is a double-release day, so please be sure to check out both posts tomorrow. 🙂

My summer isn’t over, though my sister and her family will leave soon from a wonderful almost three-monthly-long visit. Still, my face is turning toward the start of school, much to my children’s chagrin. Ha ha haa. I bet getting back into a schedule will be good for us all.

Happy reading, writing, and all else!

Mary
