Saying Too Much

They say editing is an art, and, whether you’re editing yourself or someone else, I believe it. Saying too much can come so easily, written or spoken, that it affects just about every genre! Though writing dialogue can be hard, I guess the dialogue between writer and audience bears some of the same challenges.

Community

What do you think about writing clubs? Have you ever tried one? In my neck of the woods, local clubs are frequently a part of a statewide organization which sponsors yearly contests and a conference. The clubs, then, can act as a place for immediate feedback and support, as well as a way to network and compete. You can hobnob with speakers and pitch proposals with some publishers.

Different Seasons

Do you know who hears about “different seasons?” I’ll try not to stick entirely with my own experience and remember that others hear it as well, but generally I think of Kindergartners and mothers. The point is typically that you can’t do what you want when you want to, and right now you must focus on other things. It seems additionally common to hear it isn’t a season to write.

How can I tackle this subject and still cheer on writing, even times when it is the most difficult? Watch me try.
